Initial Assessment
The Gottman Method’s three-step assessment phase in couples counseling involves a 90-minute couple’s session, 1 45-minute individual session for each person, and completing a questionnaire to gather information about the relationship and identify areas for improvement. This phase helps the therapist understand your history as a couple, communication patterns, and current challenges, setting the stage for a tailored treatment plan. The third session with your counselor is used to set goals and begin working on them. Ongoing sessions will be 90-minute couple’s sessions based on your goals and other issues that come up as you work together with your partner to improve your relationship.
Ongoing Outpatient Treatment
After the first appointment goal setting will help us learn where you want to go in your counseling. Then we work each session on helping you get to the destination of your choice.
Homework
Counseling is usually only 90 minutes each week, but can be more if needed. Frequently, it is necessary to practice what you are learning outside of sessions. You will receive homework to help make your counseling more effective and more efficient.
Affordable Cost
Most insurance pays for outpatient mental health counseling. We will work with your insurance company and bill them for you. You will be responsible for your copayment and deductible as they apply. Payment plans are available. We are providers for Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Midlands Choice, Coventry, and others. Please call us for more information.
